Old Glory signs Belmont Shore halfback Danny Thomas

Old Glory DC have announced the signing of Danny Thomas for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. He celebrates his 26th birthday later this month and joins from Belmont Shore of the Pacific Rugby Premiership, equally comfortable at both scrumhalf and flyhalf.

Thomas is originally from Farnham Common, England, but moved to Santa Monica prior to high school. He played with the local Dolphins rugby club before representing UCLA in collegiate rugby. The move east follows that of fellow Bruins standout Cian Barry, the latter signing with NOLA earlier this year.

With Sean Hartig signed up, new recruit Harry Masters verbally agreed, and last season’s starter Danny Tusitala set to return following the Mitre 10 Cup, DC now have four players capable of covering scrumhalf for 2021. At flyhalf Mike Dabulas has re-signed, with Jason Robertson still to be confirmed.
