Iñaki Mateu continues his career in Italy

Iñaki Mateu is to continue his professional career in Italy. The 23-year-old has joined Viadana, completing the move from Spain to Italy.

A native of Tucumán, Mateu moved to Spain as a child. He returned to Argentina and entered the PladAR High Performance Center. He spent five years with PladAR before returning to Europe.

He went on to play representative rugby at u16’s, u18’s and u20’s. He subsequently played World Series Rugby 7’s for Spain from 2015-2018 and was capped by Spain at test level in 2017.

He played for División de Honor side Alcobendas Rugby Club in Madrid from 2015-2018. He next entered Spain’s Rugby 7’s team. After two years on the circuit he will now continue his career in Italy.
