One talking point from Argentina’s Rugby Championship roster is the back-three depth. There are seven players for the wing and fullback category. All of them have caps on the wing. Finding a place for all of Argentina’s speedsters in the match day 23 will not be possible.
Is Argentina spoiled for choice? Yes. Has Argentina ever had more elite options? Based on evidence, no. Neither Juan Imhoff and Santiago Cordero went to Japan 2019. Both may start against South Africa on November 07.
Imhoff and Cordero may form a back-three with Santiago Carreras at fullback. The again it may see Emiliano Boffelli wearing 15. It could also be Cordero at 15 and Bautista Delguy at 14. Such are the options that Boffelli may even play at outside center. In short, this is unprecedented for Argentina. The depth is simply world-class.
There will be debate as regards to who should be wearing 11, 14, 15, and 23. However, such are the options that there are multiple possibilities which would all see Argentina fielding elite wingers. This may be for rugby what the Diego Maradona or Lionel Messi debate is for soccer.
