Northland flanker Kara Pryor joins RUNY for 2021

Rugby United New York have signed Northland flanker Kara Pryor for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. He initially signed on for the 2020 season but visa delays prevented him from making an appearance. It’s a near identical situation to that of Evan Mintern.

Pryor is currently turning out for the Taniwha in his seventh New Zealand provincial campaign. He played Super Rugby with the Blues from 2016 to 2018 before joining the Sunwolves in 2019. The 29-year-old has also represented the New Zealand Māori on three occasions. He notably started opposite the Eagles in 2016 and was a second half substitute against the British & Irish Lions in 2017.

RUNY’s forward pack continues to take shape for 2021. Pryor joins Mintern and returning internationals Hanco Germishuys and Kyle Sumsion in a formidable back row stable. Charlie Hewitt and Nate Brakeley continue as the primary lock pairing, while seven front rowers have been confirmed including captain Dylan Fawsitt and newcomers Zak Taulafo, Samu Tawake, and Wilton Rebolo.
