Free Jacks confirm contract for draft pick Spencer Krueger

The New England Free Jacks have confirmed a Major League Rugby contract for second round draft pick Spencer Krueger. Selected 18th overall in the inaugural Collegiate Draft, the 22-year-old tighthead prop is set to play for the Ohio Aviators in the upcoming World Tens Series.

Krueger captained Ohio State where he won Collegiate All-American honors in 2018. He also spent time in Christchurch, New Zealand, playing for club side Marist Albion while training with the Crusaders Academy. Domestically the Arlington Heights native has also turned out for the Chicago Lions.

The Free Jacks now have nine front row players contracted for the 2021 season. Among them are South African newcomers Xandré Vos, Pieter Jansen, and Erich de Jager. Krueger joins a group of young American prospects that includes Kyle Ciquera, Steven Hinshaw, and Quentin Newcomer.
