Free Jacks sign Sean Yacoubian from Raptors on long-term deal

The New England Free Jacks have signed scrumhalf Sean Yacoubian to a long-term deal through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. He joins from the withdrawn Colorado Raptors, making just one appearance in 2020 before the season was suspended.

Originally from Scotland, Yacoubian represented his home country at u20 level before earning Collegiate All-American honors with the Saint Mary’s Gaels. Having arrived at SMC in 2017 the 26-year-old should qualify for the USA on residency ahead of the 2021 season pending World Rugby approval.

Yacoubian joins Ireland age-grade international John Poland and fellow Gaels standout Tom Brusati as scrumhalf options next season. He effectively takes the place of Erik Thompson on the roster, with the USA u20 cap departing New England and reportedly in talks with another MLR team.
