ARN Player of the Week – Kapeli Pifeleti

This past weekend saw more players returning to the field as the Mitre 10 Cup kicked off in New Zealand and a number of French clubs started their season after another COVID delay. As such more were in contention by default, but also due to strong form.

Even narrowing it down to honorable mentions took some effort. Juan Imhoff scored his second try in as many games for Racing 92, Guido Petti impressed on debut for Bordeaux, and Tony Lamborn captained Southland to victory over Hawke’s Bay. Nicolás Sánchez and Benjamín Urdapilleta were both outstanding at Stade Pierre Fabre, scoring 17 and 16 points respectively.

Our winner is a young man who is starting to make his mark in the English Premiership. Eagles hooker Kapeli Pifeleti earned man-of-the-match honors for Saracens in their win over Exeter Chiefs. The 21-year-old led all players on the field with 14 carries in 54 minutes of work.
