Sánchez signs extended contract with Stade Français

Nicolás Sánchez has signed a new deal with Stade Français. His extended contract will see him remaining in Paris until 2022. The 31-year-old joined Stade Français in 2018 from Los Jaguares.

Stade Français is Sánchez’s third Top 14 club. He joined Bordeaux from Argentina in 2011 and subsequently moved to Toulon in 2014. He returned to Argentina for the 2016 Super Rugby season. After three campaigns with Los Jaguares he joined the Parisians.

Sánchez played in RWCs 2011, 2015 and 2019. He was the starting fly half in the second of these tournaments. In the third he began as the first choice no 10, only to be overtaken by Benjamín Urdapilleta during the tournament itself. Sánchez and Urdapilleta faced-off this past weekend in Castres vs Stade Français.

Both Sánchez and Urdapilleta were named on Argentina’s extended roster for the 2020 Rugby Championship. Sánchez will be in line to add to his 80 test caps. This year’s competition will b played exclusively in Australia in November and December.

In addition to Sánchez, Stade Français have former Jaguares Marcos Kremer and Pablo Matera. The trio are all expected to feature in the Rugby Championship.
