Quentin Newcomer signs long-term Free Jacks deal

Quentin Newcomer has signed a new three-year deal with the New England Free Jacks that will run through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old tighthead prop played four matches in the abbreviated 2020 season, his first as a professional.

Hailing from Fairfax, Virginia, Newcomer is – ironically and remarkably – still new to the sport having only taken up rugby two years before joining the Free Jacks. After appearing in the 2019 exhibition campaign he spent time in New Zealand playing for the Sumner club in Christchurch.

New England now have four tightheads secured for the 2021 campaign. Newcomer is joined by returning Japan international Kensuke Hatakeyama and a pair of new recruits. Spencer Krueger was selected in the Collegiate Draft while South African import Erich de Jager joins from the Cheetahs.
