Winning Top 14 debut for Tyler Ardron

Tyler Ardron was a winner in his Top 14 debut. His new club, Castres were 26-22 away winners over Agen. The match was a Week 1 fixture in the 2020-2021 season.

In debuting in the Top 14 Ardron extends his footprint into further elite professional rugby. From 2013-2017 he played in Wales for the Ospreys. He moved from the Pro 14 to New Zealand in 2017. There he played in the Mitre 10 Cup for Bay of Plenty in 2017 and Super Rugby for the Chiefs from 2018-2020.

The Canadian captain put in an 80 minute performance. He started the second-row and would not be replaced. He was joined in the team by fellow RWC 2019 Americas representative, Benjamín Urdapilleta. The Puma started at fly half and scored 16 points.

A second South American featured in the contest. Colombian Andrés Zafra was an early replacement for Agen. Zafra initially entered the match in the 36th minute and later returned in the 72nd minute.

Castres and Agen will both play again next weekend. Agen have a road trip to Pau on Friday while Castres play host to Stade Français on Sunday.
