Deion Mikesell leaves Free Jacks for Carcassonne

Deion Mikesell has signed for French Pro D2 side Carcassonne. The twice-capped Eagles winger departs the New England Free Jacks after just one season. This will be his second stint in France, having spent four months with Clermont’s academy side during the 2018-19 season.

After arriving from the Houston SaberCats in the off-season Mikesell appeared in all five matches for the Free Jacks during the spring, including three starts in the No11 shirt. His most notable outing was a two-try performance against the Utah Warriors in Las Vegas.

Mikesell is the third prominent departure from New England revealed thus far, along with loose forwards Naulia Dawai and Brad Hemopo. It’s not fully clear which outside backs are returning but the Free Jacks have already signed Scotland international Dougie Fife from Edinburgh.
