One-year ATL extension for Martini Talapusi

Martini Talapusi has signed a one-year extension with Rugby ATL through the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old utility back is the ninth player to re-sign for the club during the off-season and the first since the team’s new logo was unveiled earlier this month.

Born in New Zealand and raised in Samoa, Talapusi is Eagles-qualified and played for the USA Select XV at the 2017 Americas Pacific Challenge. That followed a strong showing with the San Francisco Rush in the 2016 PRO Rugby season. Younger brother Faitala has represented the USA on the World Sevens Series.

Talapusi played for Life West in the Pacific Rugby Premiership before returning to professional rugby in 2020 with ATL. Covering flyhalf, inside center, and fullback, he appeared in all five matches during the 2020 MLR campaign with one start in the No15 shirt against Old Glory DC.
