Pumas receive approval to begin training for Rugby Championship

Los Pumas have received official governmental approval to begin training for the Rugby Championship. The announcement marks a vital piece of the puzzle for Argentina to play test match rugby in 2020.

Head Coach Mario Ledesma will now be able to train with the Argentine-based players. He and the team are set to take place at the UAR’s facilities, Casa Pumas in Buenos Aires.

Ledesma named a 59-man roster in May. It contained 14 players based in Europe. Since then more players have signed for foreign clubs and the player exodus has not yet ended. As such those based abroad will not train with the roster at Casa Jaguares.

Yet to be confirmed are the dates and venues for the Rugby Championship. It is expected to be played entirely in New Zealand from November 07 to December 12. An official announcement is forthcoming.
