RUNY recruit Brazil’s Wilton Rebolo from Austin

Rugby United New York have recruited Brazilian front rower Wilton Rebolo from the Austin Gilgronis. The 25-year-old signed for Austin ahead of the 2020 Major League Rugby campaign but missed out on the regular season after an injury during exhibition play.

Equally capable of playing tighthead prop or hooker, Rebolo has been one of the standout performers in the famed Tupis set piece since debuting against Germany in 2015. He was notably at hooker when Brazil crushed the Māori scrum at São Paulo in 2018.

Rebolo is the second player added to RUNY’s front row stocks for the 2021 season following Fijian tighthead Samu Tawake. Also confirmed are returning loosehead James Rochford and US Eagles hooker Dylan Fawsitt.
