Donald Brighouse in Taranaki Mitre 10 Cup squad

New England Free Jacks prop Donald Brighouse has been named in the Taranaki Bulls squad for the upcoming Mitre 10 Cup. The 27-year-old Wellington native has most recently been playing for New Plymouth Old Boys since the Major League Rugby season was suspended.

Brighouse signed for the the Free Jacks in December on a two-year deal. He started all five matches during the shortened 2020 campaign, splitting his time between loosehead and tighthead prop, and scored a try against the Seattle Seawolves in Week Four.

A former New Zealand u20 rep who has four test caps for Samoa, this will be the second Mitre 10 Cup campaign with the Bulls for Brighouse and seventh overall. He spent five seasons with Otago and had a brief spell in the UK with Coventry before switching to Taranaki in 2019.

The Mitre 10 Cup is set to kick off on September 11.
