Austin welcomes home Round Rock native Christian Ostberg

The Austin Gilgronis have confirmed the addition of Round Rock native Christian Ostberg for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. He returns home after a six-year overseas career first with Chinnor in England and then for the past five years with Aurillac in France.

Ostberg’s MLR debut has in fact been delayed by several months. He joined Austin in March after departing Aurillac but the COVID-19 pandemic ruined his intention to play in the 2020 season. The 26-year-old will instead start fresh with the team in 2021.

Primarily a lock but also capable on the blindside flank, the 6’6″ (1.98m) forward has has struggled with injury in recent years but now looks to be back to full fitness. He will be of great interest to Eagles selectors who named Ostberg in the USA Select XV group for the 2016 Americas Pacific Challenge.
