Tadhg Leader rides on with Free Jacks

Tadhg Leader will stay on for at least one more year with the New England Free Jacks. The US Eagles international flyhalf has committed to the Boston-based franchise through the 2021 Major League Rugby season. Prior to his test debut Leader represented his native Ireland up to u20 level.

Leader holds a rare distinction as one of six players who have suited up for three different teams in MLR. He played for the San Diego Legion in the inaugural 2018 season, then after joining New England had a brief loan spell with the NOLA Gold in 2019.

This past season was disrupted not just by COVID-19 but also by injury. Leader was forced to sit out three matches following a thunderous collision with Rugby United New York center Will Leonard in the opening week. Leonard sat out two matches with suspension as a result.

The Free Jacks are continuing their trend of signing announcements on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week. International additions Tera Mtembu and Dougie Fife have been confirmed along with a new Head Coach in Ryan Martin who arrives from New Zealand.
