RUNY signs Argentine fullback Joel Miranda

Rugby United New York have announced the signing of former Pumitas fullback Joel Miranda for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old is US-born but raised in Argentina. He arrives from Jockey Club in Salta having also represented Salta province in the Campeonato Argentino.

Miranda graduated through the Argentine age-grade system, playing for his country up to u19 level. He was called into the senior Pumas Sevens training squad as a 20-year-old in 2017 but has not been captured and thus remains eligible for the USA.

The growing list of South American talent in MLR now includes six newcomers including Miranda. Juan Cappiello will play for the NOLA Gold, Bautista Ezcurra for Rugby ATL, and the Toronto Arrows have added trio Gastón Cortes, Juan Cruz González, and Manuel Montero.
