Victor Comptat has signed a two-year contract with French Fédérale 1 club Olympique Marcquois Rugby (OMR). The 23-year-old lock departs Major League Rugby after three seasons in Texas, one with Austin Elite and the past two with the Houston SaberCats.
Comptat leaves a significant hole on the SaberCats roster. The towering lineout specialist started three of the four matches he appeared in during the shortened 2020 campaign. US-qualified by virtue of being born in Los Angeles, Eagles selectors will now monitor his progress in France.
OMR, commonly referred to simply as Marcq, is based in Marcq-en-Baroeul in the greater Lille metropolitan area. The club was founded in 1971 and has enjoyed a partnership with European giants Toulouse since 1999. This is their first season in the semi-professional Fédérale 1.
