Hanco Germishuys to carry on for Rugby United New York

Hanco Germishuys will remain with Rugby United New York for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The team confirmed a contract extension with the star flanker on Friday, joining the recent re-signings of fellow USA internationals Dylan Fawsitt, Nate Brakeley, and Kyle Sumsion.

Germishuys will see a second season with an MLR team for the first time. He played for Austin Elite during the league’s inaugural campaign in 2018, moving to the Glendale Raptors in 2019. After a fall-out with Glendale’s management Germishuys switched to RUNY ahead of the 2020 season.

Fast approaching his 24th birthday, Germishuys has established himself as a key player for the Eagles since 2018. He played in all four matches at Rugby World Cup 2019 including starts against France and Argentina, bringing his career total to 21 test caps.
