Troy Lockyear re-signs with Rugby United New York

Troy Lockyear has extended his stay with Rugby United New York through the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The versatile backfielder made his professional bow in 2020 after joining the team from the national collegiate champion Cal Golden Bears.

Lockyear initially signed as a fullback but played at outside center this year for RUNY. The 23-year-old turned heads with a spectacular two-try performance on debut against the Austin Gilgronis. He would make only one further appearance, coming off injured early the second half against Rugby ATL.

RUNY have now confirmed four returning players with Lockyear the first back. Forwards Dylan Fawsitt, Nate Brakeley, and Kyle Sumsion have been joined by newcomers Connor Buckley, Apenisa Cakaubalavu, and Fa’asiu Fuatai in recent days. More announcement are expected throughout this week.
