Marno Redelinghuys has signed a one-year contract extension with Rugby ATL that commits him to the Atlanta franchise through the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The South African forward has also confirmed his enrollment in the Doctorate of Chiropractic program at Life University.
Arriving from Western Province, Redelinghuys made an immediate impression as a marauding blindside flanker for ATL but was restricted to just two regular games before the 2020 season came to an abrupt halt due to COVID-19. The 27-year-old scored a runaway try on debut against the Utah Warriors.
ATL have now extended the contracts of seven players in the off-season. It remains to be seen whether South African locks Johan Momsen and Stefan Willemse will return with the duo initially arriving on loan from Griquas. Star flyhalf Kurt Coleman will continue having been appointed Assistant Coach for the development side last month.
