Charente signs Pablo Dimcheff from Ceibos

French club Charente have signed Pablo Dimcheff from Los Ceibos. The 21-year-old joins the Pro D2 side ahead of the upcoming season. Dimcheff’s move to Charente means that the club now has two South American hookers in Dimcheff and Uruguayan Germán Kessler.

Kessler was a stand-out performer for Uruguay at RWC 2019. Earlier in the year Dimcheff had also impressed at a World Cup, that being the Junior World Championship. He was the starting hooker in the team that romped past France to book a Semi Final against Australia.

Dimcheff turned 21 earlier this month. His move to France comes following a busy 12 months. Following the Junior World Championship on home soil Dimcheff played for Los Jaguares XV in the Currie Cup First Division; the Argentine team went unbeaten. Then he joined Los Ceibos for the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). The competition was suspended after two rounds due to COVID-19.

Interest from Charente demonstrates that Dimcheff looms as a player with a promising future ahead of him. He moves to France standing at 1.82m (6′) and weighing 104kg (230lbs).
