NOLA Gold signs Argentina center Juan Cappiello

NOLA Gold have signed Juan Cappiello. The Argentine mid-fielder has signed a long-term contract to play for the Major League Rugby (MLR) franchise for the next three years.

Cappiello joins from French side Mont de Marsan. He played for the Pro D2 side from 2019-2020 and played the prior season for rivals Carcassonne. His move to the MLR sees the league obtaining a second Argentine center for next season. Cappiello follows former Puma Bautista Ezcurra who has signed to play for Rugby ATL.

Cappiello is a former teammate of Ezcurra in the Argentina XV. The same is true of NOLA Gold winger Julián Domínguez. Moreover, both Cappiello and Domínguez know each other very well. They pair come from Club Pucará in Buenos Aires.

In addition to matches for the Argentina XV and Los Pumas 7’s, Cappiello is also capped by Argentina. He earned three caps in the 2013 South American Championship. He started against each of Brazil, Chile and Uruguay.
