Duane Aholelei signs Rugby ATL extension

Rugby ATL prop Duane Aholelei has signed a two-year extension with the club that runs through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The Tonga ‘A’ representative follows fellow front rowers Chance Wenglewski and Neethling Gericke who have also added time to their deals in the off-season.

Aholelei, 31, started three games for ATL after arriving from a stint as a medical joker with Clermont Auvergne in the French Top 14. He split time with Munster export Cronan Gleeson at tighthead and was a significant physical presence in close quarters.

Six players have now committed their long-term futures to ATL in recent weeks with Conor Keys, Matt Heaton, and Duncan van Schalkwyk also locked in through the 2023 campaign. Mike Matarazzo and John Scotti were selected in the Collegiate Draft, while Argentine international Bautista Ezcurra is the first new signing revealed for next season.
