Franco Lamanna signs for Mogliano in Italian Top 12

Franco Lamanna is to play for Mogliano in the Italian Top 12. The Teros forward has signed for the Venetians for the upcoming season. Lamanna is an established name in Uruguay’s test side. He has two RWC campaigns to his name and 46 caps.

The 28-year-old usually plays flanker, though he has also played second-row for Uruguay. He did so as a replacement against Fiji in the famous RWC 2019 victory in Kamaishi, Japan. He also played second-row against Australia, starting in the pool match in Oita.

He played in three of Uruguay’s matches four years earlier at RWC 2015. In that tournament Lamanna started in the second-row against Australia in Birmingham and was a replacement against Wales in Cardiff and Fiji in Milton Keynes.

In 2016 he mainly played second-row for Uruguay, but he reverted to flanker in 2017 and 2018. This saw him wearing the N7 shirt for Uruguay’s historic home-and-away series win over Canada. The series win saw Los Teros booking their place at RWC 2019.

Lamanna is from Montevideo club Carassco Polo. His move to Italy is a return to the country after he previously played for Cus Perugia, Pro Recco and Cavalieri Prato. His additional experience includes playing for SC Mazamétain in France and Darlington Mowden Park in England.
