The Dallas Jackals have announced the signing of prop Kelepi Fifita from Colorado for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. He is the fourth Raptors player added by the expansion side ahead of their inaugural campaign, following Chad Gough, Kody O’Neil, and Chad London.
Fifita, 24, was an All-State high school football player and played for Northern Arizona University before returning to rugby with Glendale in 2017. In his three seasons with the Raptors he started 18 games, most often at tighthead. In 2020 he played both sides of the scrum with both starts at loosehead.
Impressing with his athleticism in the loose, Fifita was quickly drafted into the USA Selects side that competed at the 2017 and 2018 Americas Pacific Challenge. In both cases he was considered a loosehead and it could be in the No1 jersey where he plays for Dallas.
The Jackals have now added 10 players including draft picks Conner Mooneyham, Tommy Clark, Levi van Lanen, and Bronson Teles. Namibia flanker Wian Conradie and South Korean scrumhalf Jinho Mun have also been confirmed. More ex-Raptors are expected to be announced in the near future.
