Neethling Gericke has signed a two-year contract extension with Rugby ATL that binds him to the Major League Rugby side through the 2022 season. The 29-year-old is also a Forwards and Defense Coach with Life University, whom he played for prior to joining ATL in July 2019.
Originally from the Western Cape in South Africa, Gericke played for Stellenbosch University before moving to the USA to attend Life in 2016. After playing in ATL’s first ever preseason match against NOLA he made just one appearance in the regular season before it was suspended due to COVID-19.
Gericke is the fourth extension to be confirmed by the club in recent weeks. Canadian forwards Conor Keys and Matt Heaton and scrumhalf Duncan van Schalkwyk have all been signed through the 2023 season. Mike Matarazzo and John Scotti were acquired in the inaugural Collegiate Draft.
