Former Argentina XV scrum-half Mauro Perotti joins Alcobendas

Ongoing player recruitment has seen Mauro Perotti joining Alcobendas. The former Argentina XV scrum-half was among the leading players in last season’s División de Honor, the elite Spanish rugby competition.

Perotti moves to the Madrid club from División de Honor rivals Bathco Rugby Santander. He comes from Gimnasia y Tiro club in the northern Argentine city and province of Salta. In 2016 he joined Buenos Aires club CASI to play in the URBA Top 12 until 2019.

His move to Spain came following his time in Buenos Aires. In his rookie season in Spain he started 17 matches, scoring 11 tries. He did so playing across multiple positions, such was the level of his performance in the league.

The 23-year-old has prior experience not only in Salta and Buenos Aires but also in terms of representative duty. He played at the top level in provincial competition, for Los Pumas 7’s and for the Argentina XV. His game time in the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship mean that his eligibility is attached to Argentina.
