Austin signs GCU captain Cam Dodson

Austin have confirmed their first new player signing for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. Grand Canyon University captain Cam Dodson has joined the Gilgronis as an undrafted free agent. The 23-year-old lock or No8 is the first addition under new AG’s coaches Sam Harris and Mark Gerrard.

Dodson is originally from Staffordshire, England, and played for Stoke-on-Trent RUFC prior to arriving at GCU in 2017. An explosive athlete who stands a lofty 6’7″ (2.00m), he has since impressed at both 7s and XVs including a breakout performance at the 2019 National College 7s Championships.

The AG’s have recently announced contract extensions for prop Mason Pedersen, winger Rodrick Waters, and fullback Zinzan Elan-Puttick. Veteran front rower Chris Schade confirmed on the MLR Rant Podcast that he will not be returning in 2021.
