Lavanini may move to France as Leicester Tigers enforce pay-cuts

Tomás Lavanini is likely to move to France as the Leicester Tigers enforce pay-cuts. England’s most successful club of all-time is reportedly in disarray with twelve players facing departures unless agreements can be finalized today.

The Leicester Tigers’ financial problems coincide with interest from Stade Français in the Argentine second-rower. Earlier today the Top 14 club secured the services of Marcos Kremer from Los Jaguares. He arrives in Paris alongside coach Gonzalo Quesada, both of whom will re-join Pablo Matera and Nicolás Sánchez.

Kremer to Paris underlines the accuracy of rumors over the past few weeks. Prior to the reveal of the extent of Leicester’s disarray the French press had circulated the rumor that Stade Français were in talks with Lavanini.

A move to Stade Français would see Lavanini playing in France, and Paris, for the second time. The 27-year-old played for Racing 92 in the 2014-2015 season. He did so after already being established as Argentina’s starting N5 in 2014 Rugby Championship.

Lavanini debuted for Argentina in 2013 at the age of 20. He currently has 56 caps, many of them coming in combination with Guido Petti as Los Pumas’ engine room. Petti departed Los Jaguares last week for Bordeaux.
