Five further Jaguares linked to moves to France

Five further Jaguares have been linked to moves to France. Los Jaguares’ 2020 season was suspended early due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Involvement in the 2021 Super Rugby competition remains unknown, but in grave doubt.

The UAR responded to the events by freeing-up players to accept offers from abroad. The consequence of this is a potential player exodus. Whether or not many names will depart remains to be seen. For the time being second-rower Guido Petti has joined Bordeaux on a two-year-deal and Los Ceibos center and captain, Lucas Mensa has joined Valence Romans.

Flanker Marcos Kremer may be the next to go. The hard man has been linked to Stade Français and Tomás Lavanini may also make the move to the Parisians from the Leicester Tigers. The whispers surrounding Lavanini are part of the Argentine rumors at the club as hooker Julián Montoya is reportedly set to join the club.

The first Jaguar connected to Europe was none of the above; instead it was Emiliano Boffelli. The outside back was quickly linked to Racing 92. Such a move would see the Rosario speedster joining Juan Imhoff at the club. Both players are products of Duendes.

Now four further Jaguares have been linked to moves to France. Two of them are to Top 14 club Pau and two to Pro D2 side Béziers. Pau is said to be interested in obtaining the services of fly half Joaquín Díaz Bonilla and second-rower Lucas Paulos. Both players have prior experience in Europe, the former having been a medical joker for Racing 92 during RWC 2019.

Béziers are looking to build a roster to win promotion to the Top 14. A combination of French and UAE investors see the club represented by RWC 1999, 2003 and 2007 test winger Christophe Dominici. Among the names linked to the club are Jaguares second-rower Matías Alemanno, loose head Mayco Vivas and tight-head Santiago Medrano.
