Following his time with the Olímpia Lions, Facundo Pomponio returns to Spain to play again for Ciencias Sevilla. The Argentine continues his career which involves prior experience as a professional in France, Paraguay, and Spain.
The 28-year-old Pomponio is a tighthead prop. He was the starting No3 for the Olímpia Lions against Los Ceibos in their first and only SLAR match in 2020.
Pomponio comes from Comercial Rugby Club in Mar del Plata. Due to his prior involvement with Liceo Francés and Lexus Alcobendas he already has a name for himself in Spanish rugby circles. He also previously played in the French Pro D2 for RC Vannes.
Weighing 120kg (265lbs) and standing at 1.88m (6’2″) Pomponio is a large athlete. He is a notable performer in the set piece areas and is also a strong ball carrier.
