Wallabies star Matt Giteau linked with MLR move

Wallabies centurion Matt Giteau has been linked to a move to Major League Rugby in 2021. Tom Decent of the Sydney Morning Herald writes that the left-footed flyhalf or inside center is in talks to play for the LA Giltinis in their inaugural campaign.

Giteau is nearing the end of a career that has seen him star in Super Rugby, Europe, and now Japan over 18 seasons as a professional. He earned his first cap for Australia in 2002, and would play in the 2003, 2007, and 2015 Rugby World Cups before winning his 103rd and final cap in 2016.

The 37-year-old is the latest of several Australians said to be contemplating a move to the growing American competition. Drew Mitchell will join Rugby United New York this coming season while Adam Ashley-Cooper signed for Austin earlier this year.
