Guido Petti Leaves Jaguares for Bordeaux

It is now official: Guido Petti is no longer a Jaguar and will continue his career in France for Bordeaux. The 25-year-old was unveiled today by the French Top 14 club as one of six new recruits ahead of the 2020-2021 season. Petti’s contract is a two-year-deal with the option of a one year extension.

Petti was a Jaguar from 2016-2020. He was thus a member of the team from its beginning right through to its most recent match. He was the undisputed starter at No4. His high point for Los Jaguares was the 2019 campaign wherein the team lost the 2019 Super Rugby Final.

On an individual level Petti was unmatched. Petti is officially the leading name in Super Rugby at the art of lineout steals. Over the 2016-2020 period Petti won 38 opposition throws, a number greater than all other players.

Prior to becoming a Jaguar, Petti was already a starting Puma. He made his test debut at the age of 19 against Italy in 2014. Since then he has gone on to win 53 caps and has played in two Rugby World Cups. In the first of these tournaments he played together with Santiago Cordero. The former Jaguar and Exeter Chief will be a teammate of Petti at Bordeaux.
