Memorable Americas Tries – Julio Farías Cabello vs NZ 2011

Tucumán flanker Julio Farías Cabello scored a memorable try for Argentina against New Zealand in 2011. He finished off what was a team score created by Rosario’s Leonardo Senatore, a player who was on debut against Tier 1 opposition.

Senatore broke from a scrum several meters inside Los Pumas’ half. He avoided the tackles of Kieran Read and Richie McCaw before running 25 meters upfield and passing to Felipe Contepomi. Three more players got the ball with Martín Rodríguez Gurruchaga tackled the meters out.

Five players arrived to secure the ball and Farías Cabello scored from a pick and go. The try was converted by Contepomi to give the South Americans an 7-6 lead in what was a RWC Quarter Final in Auckland.

Farías Cabello was a Puma from 2010-2013. He made his test debut at the age 0f 32; remaining in the team until his final cap. He scored two test tries, with the score against New Zealand being his first.
