DC and NOLA sign players ahead of Draft

Old Glory DC and the NOLA Gold have announced one new signing each ahead of today’s inaugural Major League Rugby Collegiate Draft. DC have picked up Mystic River lock David Beach while the Gold add former UCLA utility back Cian Barry.

Standing a lofty 6’7″ (2.01m), Beach hails from Franklin, Pennsylvania where he also competed in high school wrestling. The 24-year-old started his rugby career with Presque Isle RFC before heading to Notre Dame College. He is also part of the Stars Rugby academy program.

Barry, 24, earned 1st Team Collegiate All-American 7s honors in 2019. Originally from London, England, he moved to California in 2014 and has also represented the USA at u18 level. The Epsom College product is comfortable playing at either halfback position, wing, and fullback.
