Joaquín Riera signs long-term deal with Benetton Treviso

Joaquín Riera has signed a long-term deal with Benetton Treviso. The former Argentina 7’s player has agreed to terms to play for the Pro 14 side until 2022.

The 26-year-old from Tucumán made his debut for Benetton Treviso this past season after joining from Petrarca. In his rookie Pro 14 season he played against Irish provinces Connacht and Leinster; and Welsh regions the Dragons and the Ospreys.

Rivera went through the Argentine Higher Performance system. This saw him playing for Los Pumitas in the 2014 Junior World Championship and subsequently playing for Los Pumas 7’s. Without a Super Rugby opportunity with Los Jaguares, Rivera moved to Italy where he has now made it to the elite level of professional rugby.

Capable of playing across multiple positions in the backline, Riera covers fly half, center and fullback. He is one of three Argentine players at Benetton Treviso. The others are center Juan Ignacio Brex and hooker Tomás Baravalle.
