Former Pumas hooker Agustín Costa Repetto ends pro career

One of Argentina’s most experienced European professionals has called an end to his career. Former Pumas hooker Agustín Costa Repetto has retired at the age of 37 after a dozen seasons abroad split between France and Italy. He steps away having spent the last four seasons with Colomiers.

Hailing from Buenos Aires, Costa Repetto played for the Los Matreros club and represented the URBA in the Campeonato Argentina. He scored two tries in his test debut against Chile in May 2005, winning his third and final cap in December of that year as a starter in the defeat to Samoa.

After a brief trial with Harlequins in 2006, Costa Repetto signed made a permanent move to Europe in January 2009. He played four seasons with Petrarca Padova before two year stints with Mogliano and then Tarbes, the latter his introduction to French rugby.

In his six seasons in France, Costa Repetto was considered among the best hookers in the Pro D2. His durability and powerful ball carrying saw him score 27 tries in those six seasons. All told, his first class career totaled a remarkable 65 tries across professional and international rugby.
