Sanguinetti Leaves Peñarol for France

Mateo Sanguinetti has signed a two-year-deal with Massy. The contract sees the Uruguayan loose head prop continuing his professional career. Having already played for the Houston SaberCats and Peñarol, in  Major League Rugby and Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) respectively, Sanguinetti will now play in France.

Rugby Club Massy Esconne have signed the 27-year-old on a two year deal. It will see him at the French club for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons. The club is no stranger to Uruguayan rugby props. RWC 2015 Teros prop, Mario Sagario played for Massy from 2012-2015.

Sanguinetti joined Sagario on the Uruguayan roster for RWC 2015. The pair started together against Australia in Birmingham and England in Manchester. Sanguinetti was a replacement against Wales in Cardiff and Fiji in Milton Keynes.

Four years later in Japan, Sanguinetti appeared in his second RWC; where he made three appearances. He started against Fiji in Kamaishi, Georgia in Kumagaya and Wales in Kumamoto.

Prior to the 2020 season being suspended due to Covid-19, Peñarol played one match in the SLAR. Sanguinetti started the match at loose head against Chilean side Selknam.
