Agustín Ormaechea Signs for Nice

Agustín Ormaechea has signed for Nice. The Uruguayan scrum half will make the move to the Fédérale 1 side from Pro D2 side Mont de Marsan next season to take up a two-year-contract.

The 29-year-old Ormeachea has been playing professional rugby in France since 2013. He has played for both Mont de Marsan and RC Strasbourg. Nice will be his third club and will see him completing a decade as a professional in the country.

Ormaechea was Uruguay’s starting scrum-half at RWC 2015. There he played against Wales in Cardiff, Australia in Birmingham, Fiji in Milton Keynes, and England in Manchester. He scored a try against the Pacific Islanders.

RWC 2019 was Ormaechea’s second RWC. There he was back-up to Santiago Arata, a player on his way to France next season. In Japan 2019 Arata started against Fiji in Kamaishi, Georgia in Kumagaya and Wales in Kumamoto. Ormaechea started against Australia in Oita.
