August Target for 2020 Americas Rugby Championship

August is the target for international competition in the Americas. The annual mid-year internationals are set to be cancelled as World Rugby will inevitably call-off the 2020 July Internationals.

Uruguayan rugby journalist Ignacio Chans spoke with Sudamérica Rugby President, Sebastián Piñeyrúa about all things Sudamérica Rugby. The region is presently in lock-down with the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) suspended and there being no light at the end of the tunnel.

The 2020 mid-year internationals are officially the moved version of the annual fixtures in July rather than June. Piñeyrúa is clear in noting that any talk of the Nations Cup is thinking about something that will not happen. As such, August is the target.

The 2020 Americas Rugby Championship (ARC) is scheduled to begin in August. At present it is in doubt, although every effort is being made from administrators to enable to competition to go ahead.
