Women’s Challenger Sevens event in Stellenbosch postponed

The Women’s Sevens Challenger tournament scheduled for the weekend of March 28 in Stellenbosch has been postponed. World Rugby made the announcement on Friday to follow suit with numerous other sporting events in an attempt to slow the proliferation of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Three Americas nations were due to participate in the 12-team event – Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico. Where the Men’s Challenger Series involved three tournaments to determine core status in the 2020-21 season, the women’s qualifier was to be determined at the singular event.

A new date for the tournament has not yet been set.
