Olímpia Lions vs Corinthians Cancelled

The first ever professional rugby match in Paraguay has been postponed. The Olímpia Lions vs Corinthians fixture has been set to take place behind closed doors, but now it has been cancelled altogether. It will now be rescheduled for a later date.

The decision follows government protocol in response to COVID-19. There is now to be a SLAR meeting on Sunday to determine the status of upcoming SLAR matches.

Major League Rugby has been suspended for 30 days while the Top 14, Pro D2, Pro 14 and English Premiership have also been disrupted. There are fears that no further matches will be possible this season in certain competitions.

Super Rugby may yet also cancel matches. Saturday’s game in Buenos Aires will see Los Jaguares facing the Highlanders behind closed doors.
