A Washington state emergency regulation enacted in contain the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak will affect at least two Seattle Seawolves home games. Sporting events in three counties, including that of Starfire Stadium, will be restricted to 250 attendants for the remainder of March.
As a result, Seawolves President Shane Skinner released a statement saying that the team is currently consulting with Major League Rugby to determine an action plan for the matches on March 21 against Houston and March 29 against Colorado. The options appear to be suspension, cancellation, or operation behind closed doors.
While Seattle are the only MLR franchise currently affected, it seems likely the action plan will have league-wide implications. On Wednesday the NBA announced that it was suspending their entire regular season indefinitely, while the NHL is expected to make a statement later on Thursday.
