Peter Nelson set to join Seattle Seawolves

Canada’s World Cup flyhalf Peter Nelson is set to join the Seattle Seawolves. The 27-year-old from Northern Ireland has agreed a deal for the remainder of the 2020 Major League Rugby season pending visa clearance. Once confirmed he will be the 7th Canadian international on the Seawolves roster.

Nelson’s entire professional career has to now been with his home province of Ulster. Having previously represented Ireland u20 and Emerging Ireland, Nelson opted to pursue test honors with Canada ahead of the Rugby World Cup. He debuted in July against the USA and started all three matches in Japan.

After a post-RWC professional offer fell through, Nelson returned to local club Dungannon in All-Ireland Division 2B. Though primarily a fullback, he has continued to play flyhalf in recent weeks. Nelson will find another Ulsterman in Seattle – outside back David Busby.
