Jaguares complete road win over Bulls

Los Jaguares completed an away bonus point win over the Bulls this afternoon in Pretoria. The 39-24 victory was by six tries to three.

Los Jaguares started the match with perfection. In their first attack, fullback Santiago Carreras broke free and put Emiliano Boffelli over in the left corner. Fly half Joaquín Díaz Bonilla was wayward with his attempted conversion from the sideline.

The Bulls hit-back through Marco van Staden. His try was converted by Morné Steyn, and with it the home side held a 7-5 lead after ten minutes.

Jaguares N8 Rodrigo Bruni made it tries in back-to-back starts for Los Jaguares. His 17th minute score would also be unconverted by Díaz Bonilla. He would find target with his third kick, a conversion from Guido Petti’s impressive finish. That try followed a score by Warrick Gelant.

Pete’s try came three minutes from half-time, yet there was time for one more. This time Díaz Bonilla was the creator as a chip over the top from half way was gathered by Matías Moroni. The center stepped and guided forward, swan-diving over for a try. The conversion gave Los Jaguares a 24-14 half-time lead.

The Bulls needed to score first in the second half and they succeeded in ding so. The wingers showed flair with Rosko Specman getting past Sebastián Cancelliere  and Santiago Carreras. He was stopped, but quick ball saw Cornal Hendricks over in the right corner.

Fly halves Díaz Bonilla and Steyn exchanged penalties and the two sides also exchanged disciplinary problems. John-Ben Kotze and Díaz Bonilla were both yellow carded for contact with the head area.

Jaguares hooker, Julián Montoya went close to scoring on two occasions. His replacement, Santiago Socino would get over for a try. The 72nd minute effort finished the scoring for that match.

Los Jaguares now travel to Durban to prepare for game three of their three-match tour of South Africa. They face the Sharks who are flying home following a successful tour of New Zealand and Australia.
