Mensa leads Los Ceibos in final warm-up match ahead of SLAR

On October 05, 2019, Lucas Mensa played against England in Tokyo. He was a replacement for Los Pumas in their do-or-die RWC pool match in Tokyo. Four months later he is to lead Los Ceibos in their second, and final, warm-up match ahead of the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) which begins on March 06.

Mensa is the one capped player on the 29-man roster for the match. The chances of this still being the case in twelve months time are low.

The roster contains Argentina’s leading home-based names who are not playing Super Rugby. This is the very point of Los Ceibos, Argentina’s second professional rugby team. Any of the players could be called-up to play for Los Jaguares; such is the regulations between the teams and the UAR.

Second-rowers Rodrigo Fernández Criado and Ignacio Calas both trained with Los Jaguares this year. Moreover, replacement Franco Molina is another lock of note.

In addition to Mensa in the backs, Los Ceibos start with Gonzalo García and Martín Elías in the halves. ARN projects both players to be playing Super Rugby in 2021.

Los Ceibos are to face Córdoba Athletic and Palermo Bajo. The unique occasion will see separate halves against different teams. The matches will take place at Los Boulevards field in Palermo Bajo.

Today’s match will not be streamed.
