Peter Tiberio puts hold on retirement, returns to Seawolves

Retirement will have to wait for Peter Tiberio. The 30-year-old outside back has re-signed with the Seattle Seawolves for the remainder of the 2020 Major League Rugby season. It’s an about-face on his late-September announcement that he would be hanging up the boots.

Tiberio quickly became a fan-favorite at Starfire Stadium for his all-action style. He played in 17 games for Seattle across the 2018 and 2019 seasons, starting the inaugural Championship Final. At international level Tiberio represented the USA in both 7s and XVs, winning one test cap against Brazil in 2017.

It’s a timely return for Tiberio. The Seawolves are currently dealing with injuries to European signings Ross Neal and Harry Davies, while Canadian international Jeff Hassler limped off late in the game against the Arrows on Saturday. Extended squad winger Siti Tamaivena won his first start against Toronto.
