Delguy Departs South Africa Injured

Bautista Delguy will not face the Bulls or the Sharks. Los Jaguares have lost the speedster for these matches with him having departed South Africa injured. He was diagnosed with a tear in the left abductor. Such an injury usually requires three to six weeks recovery.

In the same fixture in 2019, Delguy was also injured. On that occasion he suffered a season ending injury and was unable to play again. He managed to return for RWC 2019, although he narrowly made it in time.

With Delguy officially out of facing the Bulls and the Sharks, Gonzalo Quesada has called-up veteran Joaquin Tuculet. The former starting fullback will join up with the team in Pretoria and will be in consideration for this weekend’s match against the Bulls.

Whether or not Tuculet plays remains to be seen. There are a number of scenario’s for Quesada to consider. With captain Jerónimo de la Fuente expected back it is plausible that the loss of Delguy may recovered by Juan Cruz Mallía moving to fullback and Emiliano Boffelli an Santiago Carreras playing on the wings.
